Five people died and three were injured when a Scorpio and a Kia Seltos collided head-on around 2:30 PM on Monday near Sandhida village on the Dholera-Ahmedabad Expressway.
Members of the Dobariya family, who live in the Science City area and are originally from Shantinagar in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar, were travelling in the Scorpio. They were returning home from their native village, Mota Khuntwada, after attending a relative’s funeral. The Kia Seltos they collided with was coming from Bhavnagar.
According to police sources, Gordhanbhai Gobarbhai Dobariya (72), his brothers, Ashok (50) and Gaurav Dobariya (45), as well as Gaurav’s son Tirtha Dobariya (26), who were in the Scorpio, died on the spot. Disha Prabhatani (40), a resident of Palitana, who was in the Kia Seltos, also passed away following the accident. Narendra Dobariya (61), Ramji Dobariya (70) and Yava Prabhatani (17) were shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
