To address ongoing encroachment problems in the Bhadra area, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has assigned its estate department teams to carry out daily inspections and removal drives.
The decision was taken amid growing concerns over obstructions caused by hawkers and illegal vendors, particularly in the stretch from Bhadrakali Temple to Teen Darwaja and extending to Gandhi Road fountain.
According to AMC , the problem of encroachment in the Bhadra area has worsened significantly in recent weeks. While the administrative focus has largely been on the Bhadra-to-Teen Darwaja route, sources acknowledge that the issue extends up to the Gandhi Road fountain, affecting pedestrian and traffic flow.
A dedicated team of three estate department employees has been tasked with monitoring the Bhadra premises daily. These teams, comprising inspectors, sub-inspectors, surveyors and other staff, will rotate duties to curb encroachment in the Bhadra area. Each day, designated officers will be accompanied by encroachment removal vehicles, labourers and personnel from the SRP unit of the AMC.
Earlier, estate teams from all seven AMC zones were involved in clearing encroachments in the Bhadra area. However, the efforts gradually slowed down, leading to the new approach of assigning fixed responsibilities to specific staff members.
