New Delhi, May 1, 2025 — Amul has announced a price hike of Rs 2 per litre across its milk range, effective Thursday, May 1, 2025. The increase will impact popular variants including Amul Standard, Buffalo Milk, Gold, Slim n Trim, Chai Mazza, Taaza, and Cow Milk, the dairy cooperative confirmed on Wednesday.
The decision follows a similar move by Mother Dairy, which raised its milk prices by up to Rs 2 per litre on April 30, citing rising input costs due to soaring procurement expenses and summer heatwaves.
Consumers to Pay More Across India
With the revised pricing, Amul milk products will now cost Rs 2 more per litre in retail markets across the country. Industry experts attribute the price revision to escalating production and procurement costs, which have put pressure on dairy operations nationwide.
Mother Dairy’s Recent Price Hike
Earlier this week, Mother Dairy adjusted its pricing, pushing full cream milk to Rs 69 per litre in Delhi-NCR, and increasing rates for toned, double-toned, and cow milk variants.
Amul’s Expansion and Financial Outlook
Despite the inflationary trend, Amul continues to post robust financial growth. Managing Director Jayen Mehta revealed that the cooperative’s turnover for FY25 stands at Rs 66,000 crore, with projections to touch Rs 1 lakh crore by the end of FY26. The company also anticipates strong double-digit growth in its ice cream segment and is actively expanding its global footprint, particularly in the protein-enriched product category.
