In a major boost for budget-conscious travellers, Pune Airport has introduced the Udaan Yatri Café, offering a range of affordable food options for air passengers. With tea priced at just ₹10 and popular items like vada pav, coffee, samosas, and sweets available for ₹20, the café aims to make airport dining more accessible to all.
The initiative was officially launched on Monday by the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, under the central government’s Udaan scheme—a program committed to making air travel affordable and inclusive.
“The Udaan Yatri Café has already seen successful rollouts at airports in Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. We’re excited to extend the same experience to passengers in Pune, and soon, Mumbai,” said Minister Mohol.
According to the minister, over 1.5 crore citizens have benefited from the Udaan scheme over the past two-and-a-half years. The Pune Airport, in particular, has seen rapid growth, now operating around 200 flights daily and handling nearly nine million passengers annually.
To support this expansion, a new 52,000-square-metre terminal has been constructed, featuring 34 check-in desks and 25 Digi Yatra kiosks, aimed at streamlining passenger movement. Additionally, the existing terminal is being redeveloped to include 14 more check-in counters, increasing its annual capacity by another 10 to 15 lakh passengers.
Pune Airport’s cargo operations have also seen a positive trend, with an 8.45% growth, while passenger traffic has surged by 10.66%, reflecting the airport’s growing role as a regional aviation hub.
