The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has extended the deadline for its advance property tax rebate scheme by one month, allowing taxpayers more time to get up to 15% rebate on early payments. The new deadline is May 31, 2025.
As of 28 April, 3,95,495 taxpayers had already availed themselves of the rebate, contributing a substantial Rs 482.90 crore to AMC’s coffers.
Among the city’s various zones, the West Zone led the pack, with 1,03,516 taxpayers paying in Rs 123.66 crore. The North-West Zone was close behind, with 79,557 taxpayers generating Rs 109.18 crore. Meanwhile, the North Zone recorded the lowest participation, with 36,158 taxpayers contributing Rs 37.17 crore.
Last year, the advance tax rebate scheme attracted 5,82,864 taxpayers and netted Rs 776.84 crore in revenue. AMC distributed a total rebate amount of Rs 80.75 crore during that period.
Under the scheme, taxpayers can secure rebates ranging from 12% to 15% by making advance payments, part of AMC’s broader efforts to encourage early tax collection and improve compliance.
To make the offer more attractive, AMC has added extra benefits. Taxpayers who pay their advance property tax online will get an additional 1% rebate, raising their total to 13%. Those who have paid in advance for the past three years in a row will get another 2%, making the maximum rebate 15%.
