The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the central contracts for the 2024-25 season. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have returned to the list after being left out last year. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja remain in the A+ category. New players like Rajat Patidar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Harshit Rana received their first-ever contracts.
The BCCI central contracts are divided into four categories – A+, A, B, and C – based on players’ performances and participation in all three formats. There had been speculation that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja might be moved out of the A+ category (which offers an annual salary of INR 7 crore) after their retirement from T20 internationals, but the board decided to retain them.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, who were left out of last year’s central contracts due to disciplinary issues, have made their return. Iyer has already rejoined the Indian team for ODIs and played a key role in India’s Champions Trophy-winning campaign earlier this year. He has been placed in the Grade B category, while Ishan Kishan, who has impressed in the ongoing IPL 2025 season, has been included in Grade C.
