IIT Gandhinagar has launched a first-of-its-kind, immersive program titled ‘Robotics Summer School – Aurora Rising,’ scheduled to take place from May 19 to June 1, 2025.
The programme invites engineering students and recent graduates from across the country to dive into the world of robotics “through a highly engaging and competitive learning experience”. Curated and led by professor Harish P M, mechanical engineering department, IITGN the programme offers a 14-day intensive journey that blends “rigorous theoretical training with hands-on robotics challenges and exposure to the latest advancements in the field”.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn on multiple state-of-the-art robots, interact directly with leading robotics researchers, innovators, and startup founders. Set on the IITGN campus, the programme is designed not just as an academic bootcamp, but as a dynamic community experience. “Attendees will enjoy a fully-residential setup that includes accommodation, food and travel. Beyond the classroom, they will participate in movie nights, excursions, and other social events aimed at fostering collaboration and a strong peer network,” professor Harish PM stated.
Every participant will receive a certificate of completion and be inducted into the prestigious Rising Roboticists Cohort of 2025. The top 10 performers from Phase 1 will be selected for Phase 2: ‘Rise with Aurora’, an exclusive 6-8 week residency at the IITGN Robotics Lab. During this phase, selected roboticists will work on live research and industry projects under the mentorship of IITGN faculty and lab researchers. The experience will culminate in a final showcase, where participants will compete for the coveted title of ‘India’s Top 5 Rising Roboticists – 2025’. Applications for the programme will be accepted till April 25. Further details regarding programme fees, scholarship opportunities, and eligibility criteria can also be found on the website.
