Anand Niketan School in Satellite has once again attracted the attention of the District Education Officer (DEO) for conducting classes on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, a public holiday. Following complaints, the DEO issued a notice to the school management on Monday, instructing them to halt the classes and allow students to leave immediately. The DEO has also requested CCTV footage to verify the situation.
DEO Rohit Chaudhary said that the school management responded stating that they called students for a costume trial for a function.
“Last week, Anand Niketan school remained open on public hol-iday. We issued a show cause notice and considered their response. However, again on Monday, we received a similar complaint of the school keeping its Satellite campus open. This time, we have asked them to submit CCTV footage for us to verify if academics were held on Monday. If we find violation of public holidays, we will report it to the state education department,” he said.
The DEO had previously issued a notice to the school on April 10 for staying open on Mahavir Jayanti, despite it being a public holiday.
