Bollywood superstar Salman Khan received yet another death threat on Monday, this time via a WhatsApp message sent to the Transport Department office in Worli, Mumbai. The message reportedly threatened to enter his Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments, and target his car with a bomb explosion.
A case has been registered at Worli Police Station against an unidentified individual who sent the threatening message, officials confirmed. An investigation is currently underway to trace the sender, they added.
Salman Khan has faced multiple death threats over the years, particularly after his conviction in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case. Notably, on April 14 last year, two men on a bike opened fire outside the actor’s Bandra residence, firing four rounds before fleeing the scene.
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang had earlier claimed responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence through a Facebook post. The same post also claimed involvement in the murder of Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique, a 66-year-old politician known to be close to the actor. Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in jail, is known to have a long-running enmity with Salman Khan, stemming from the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case — as the Bishnoi community holds the Blackbuck sacred.
Police had earlier registered a case against 18 members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for allegedly plotting to kill the Bollywood actor. In November last year, another threat was issued against Salman Khan, this time over a song that mentioned his name alongside Bishnoi’s. The message, received by Mumbai’s traffic control room, warned of severe consequences for the songwriter and challenged the actor to protect them “if he has the courage.”
Amid repeated threats, Salman Khan’s security has been tightened. He was granted Y+ category security after the firing incident. Following this, the actor also undertook major renovations at his residence, making the windows bulletproof and installing an advanced security system with high-resolution CCTV cameras to closely monitor the surroundings.
