Woman Tosses Children from Balcony in Daring Escape, Captured on Camera
A fire broke out on the fourth floor of an apartment building in Khokhara, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Friday. Seven fire engines were sent to the scene, and the fire was brought under control. Fortunately, no one was injured.
As thick smoke and heat spread to lower floors, residents rushed to escape using balconies and stairwells. In a dramatic moment caught on camera, a woman was seen saving her two small children by carefully lowering them from the fourth-floor balcony. Two men on the floor below caught the children safely.
The woman then tried to climb down herself but slipped. She fell head-first, but rescuers caught her by the ankles just in time and pulled her to safety.
The fire started in a flat at the Parishkar-1 building. Around 18 people were trapped inside but were all rescued by fire officers. The fire spread quickly, damaging electric cables and creating thick smoke that made it hard to see. Residents helped each other feel their way down the stairwell to escape.
The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) and police are now investigating the cause of the fire. They are also checking the building’s structure to make sure it’s safe. Families from the affected block are staying with relatives or have been given food and temporary shelter at the society’s gym.
