Warns of action against schools if safety measures and norms are not followed
Due to an increase in fire incidents caused by rising temperatures, the District Education Officer (Rural), Krupa Jha, has asked all schools in her area to conduct fire safety audits. In a letter to the schools, she said this is a precaution to help prevent any fire-related risks.
“As part of the audit, all electric gadgets and wiring must be checked
to avoid short-circuit. Electricity flow needs to be well maintained with circuit breakers and the use of fuse. Insulation and overloading cir-cuit must also be checked and repairs, if needed, must be carried out,” she wrote in the letter to the schools.
Schools have also been asked to check if fire safety equipment is in working condition and not past its expiry date.
“Fire in school premises due to failure to adhere to the norms and lack of safety measures will result in action against the schools,” she stated.
