A 24-year-old woman tragically lost her life after falling from a roller coaster swing at Fun and Food Village, an amusement and water park located near the Kapashera border in Delhi, police confirmed on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Priyanka, a sales manager residing in Chanakyapuri, was visiting the park with her fiancé, Nikhil, on Wednesday afternoon. According to police officials, the couple had initially enjoyed water rides before moving to the amusement section.
“While on a roller-coaster swing ride, the structure gave way when it reached its highest point. The stand broke, causing Priyanka to fall from a considerable height,” said a police officer.
Priyanka sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Nikhil, who witnessed the incident, informed both her family and the police soon after.
Following a complaint by Nikhil, police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Priyanka’s body was released to her family after a post-mortem examination.
Her brother, Mohit, has alleged gross negligence on the part of the amusement park authorities, claiming that safety measures were lacking and that Priyanka’s medical treatment was delayed.
Priyanka and Nikhil had reportedly gotten engaged in February 2025.
As of now, the amusement park has not issued any official statement regarding the accident. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
