An FIR has been registered against the son of Jawahar Prasad, BJP MLA from Sasaram, for allegedly demanding rangari from the project manager of a road construction company.
The FIR has been lodged with town aurella police station here late Saturday evening.
Prasad claimed that the project manager filed the case to hide his own wrongdoing. Police said they are investigating the complaint and will take action against the MLA’s son if he is found guilty. According to sources, project manager Sanjay Kumar Singh stated in his FIR that Santosh Kumar, the MLA’s son, went to the road construction site near Sher Shah’s tomb with 4–5 others and demanded ₹1.25 lakh as rangdari. When Singh refused, Santosh allegedly got angry, snatched files and documents from him, and assaulted him.
Sources added the Singh, who was injured in the incident, was “saved” due to the timely intervention of some locals. The injured project manager was rushed to a private nursing home and was discharged after first aid.
Incidentally, Santosh’s name also figure in a police report for disturbing communal harmony here two month back when a truck was set on fire by some persons near tomb road.
