Four foreign students of Parul University were brutally assaulted by locals in Limda village on the evening of Dhuleti after they were found smoking cigarettes while wearing slippers near a dargah (religious site).
According to reports, around ten villagers, armed with bats, sticks, and blunt objects, confronted and assaulted the students, who were unable to understand the Gujarati language. One student sustained serious injuries and collapsed on the spot, while the others suffered minor injuries. All the injured students are undergoing treatment at Parul Sevashram Hospital. Following a viral video of the incident, Waghodia police registered a case against ten attackers and arrested seven individuals.
As per the complaint filed at Waghodia police station, the victims—all hostel residents of Parul University in Waghodia—were identified as Sufay Kangwan Ruttan (Thailand), a second-year BCA student; Odwa Andrew Abbas Andre Watari (South Sudan), a first-year Petroleum Engineering student; Tange Evenilson Thomal (Mozambique), a first-year Petroleum Engineering student; and Mohammed Alikhalif Khalif Mohammed (UK), a first-year Cardiology student.
