Ahmedabad might soon witness its tallest commercial skyscraper yet, with a 150-metre high-rise proposed opposite Nirma University in Gota. If approved, it will surpass the current record holder, a 147-metre, 43-floor structure near Ahmedabad’s Rajpath Club.
The proposal has been submitted to the state government’s special technical committee for approval. The skyscraper is expected to feature over 45 floors. The city has seen a surge in vertical expansion, with the municipal corporation approving 23 buildings over 100 metres, 18 residential and five commercial. The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has sanctioned six such projects, with five more under review.
Since 2021, approvals for skyscrapers exceeding 100 metres have been granted in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar. As of September 3, 2024, government data shows two such buildings approved in Gandhinagar and Surat, and one in Vadodara. Ahmedabad continues to lead Gujarat’s urban development with its evolving skyline.
