The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal to streamline the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests, starting Friday. The Ministry claims that this initiative will enhance accessibility to services for the public.
According to the government’s announcement, the Aadhaar Good Governance online platform (http://swik.meity.gov.in) has been launched under the Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Reform Rules, 2025.
This move aims to improve transparency and inclusivity in decision-making under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits, and Services) Act, 2016, which was amended in January 2025.
Over the past decade, more than one billion Indians have used Aadhaar over 100 billion times, claimed the ministrydemonstrating their trust in the system.
According to MeitY Secretary, the launch of this platform, along with continuous improvements in processes and systems, will accelerate governance reforms and enhance the ease of living by expanding Aadhaar’s use cases.

With these new updates, Aadhaar number holders will be able to access hassle-free services across sectors like hospitality, healthcare, credit rating bureaus, e-commerce platforms, educational institutions, and aggregator service providers.

This portal will serve as a resource-rich guide, offering a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for institutions seeking Aadhaar authentication approval and onboarding.
To develop this system, the government had invited feedback from officials and the general public between April and May 2023.
