The Gujarat government has decided to outsource teachers for government schools through agencies. According to a recent announcement by the Education Department, this move aims to improve academic and co-curricular activities while streamlining administrative work in primary schools.
Under the new policy, teachers who hold a graduate degree (BA) and a BEd qualification will be eligible to apply for teaching positions. These outsourced teachers will be paid a salary of ₹21,000 per month and will be appointed under an 11-month contract.
The government intends to outsource school assistants to help with both academic and administrative tasks. The candidates for these roles will be hired by outsourcing agencies, which will be selected on a zonal or district basis. The Director of Primary Education will provide detailed guidelines regarding the selection process.
As part of the new system, the performance of these teachers will be reviewed annually by the School Management Committee (SMC) and the Cluster Resource Center (CRC). If their performance is found satisfactory, a certificate will be issued to them.
These outsourced school assistants will be appointed to government primary schools within the state. If a particular assistant is not assigned to a school, the District Primary Education Officer (DEO) will allocate them to a different school and notify the outsourcing agency.
This decision came after the recent protest of TET-TAT candidates who were waiting for the recruitment process to get started and fill the vacancies soon.
