The much-anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is set to commence operations on April 17, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the city’s aviation sector. Located in Ulwe, the airport will open in phases, beginning with Terminal 1 and a single operational runway.
Designed to alleviate congestion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, NMIA is expected to handle 2-3 million passengers in its initial months. Full commercial operations are slated to begin in May 2025, with flight operations ramping up by October.
The new airport is expected to enhance connectivity and streamline air travel in the region, offering a much-needed alternative to Mumbai’s existing aviation infrastructure.
