Surat police have seized 20 luxury cars driven by students after a video of them heading to a farewell party in these vehicles went viral on social media. Reports indicate that three of the students who drove the cars.
With board exams approaching, Fountainhead School had organised a farewell party on campus. However, a large group of students arrived in luxury cars, causing a major traffic jam and inconveniencing the public. The road leading to the school was completely blocked by these vehicles. The car rally reportedly covered a distance of 10 kilometres.
In response, Surat police have seized the 20 luxury cars and summoned 11 drivers. However, as per reports, they have not yet called the students for questioning, as their exams are about to begin. Authorities plan to summon them once the exams conclude.
Surat District Education Officer (DEO) Bhagirath Gadhvi has also issued a notice to the school, requesting details about the incident. “We have sought a report from the school, and such acts should not be encouraged. They need to be addressed promptly,” he said.
School authorities have already clarified earlier that the rally was not organised by them. As per their statement, parents and students brought the cars without approval and participated in the event on their own. The school had arranged a bus for students, but no one used it. Furthermore, the convoy of cars was not permitted to enter the school premises.
