There’s good news now for those who wish to visit the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj but want to avoid long walking distances. Now, one can directly reach Triveni Sangam from the airport via a helicopter. The Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board and Fly Ola have launched a helicopter service for the Maha Kumbh.
With this service, devotees can take a holy dip without having to walk. A helicopter will be available at the airport, which will take passengers directly to a helipad near the Triveni Sangam at the Boat Club. From there, devotees will be provided with a boat that will take them straight to the Sangam for their holy dip. Afterward, they will return to the helipad via the same boat, and the helicopter will drop them back at Prayagraj Airport.
The entire package will cost Rs 35,000 per person, allowing devotees to visit the Triveni Sangam without walking. This service is especially beneficial for elderly and differently-abled individuals who cannot walk for longer distances.
An elderly couple travelling via helicopter told India Today’s sister site, Aaj Tak, that walking such long distances was difficult for them, so their children booked the helicopter ride to ensure they could take a dip in the Triveni Sangam without any hassle.
Other pilgrims who used the helicopter service said, “If one can afford it, visiting the Kumbh without walking is now possible”.
Fly Ola Group CEO RS Sehgal said that the rides are running continuously, making the Kumbh Mela experience a reality for those who once thought it was just a dream.
“Without needing a hotel booking, devotees can complete their visit and return to their destination within 4 to 5 hours. Once you book us, it’s our responsibility to see you don’t have any problem in the entire journey from arrival, the holy dip, and back to the airport,” the Fly Ola chief said.
For those who cannot afford the full package but still wish to experience the Sangam from the air, a Rs 1,200 joy ride option is also available.
The 45-day Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, a once-in-144-year spiritual gathering, commenced on January 13. The congregation is expected to draw 450 million devotees to the Triveni Sangam. Maha Kumbh will go on until February 26
