The Food and Drug Regulatory Authority has seized 1,500 kg of adulterated paneer from Dwarkesh Dairy Products in the city. During a raid by the agency’s flying squad, authorities found palmolein oil and industrial-grade acetic acid being used for adulteration. Three samples were collected for testing, while the remaining adulterated paneer, worth ₹3.15 lakh, was seized to prevent public consumption.
Based on confidential information received by the Food and Drug Regulatory Authority’s headquarters in Gandhinagar, a raid was conducted today at Shri Dwarkesh Dairy Products, located at 3222, next to Adarsh School, Kubernagar, Ahmedabad. The raid was carried out following reports of suspicious and adulterated paneer being produced at the facility.
During the probe, the authorities found that the firm, licensed under number 10723026000784, had stocks of palm oil and industrial-grade acetic acid along with paneer. The officials collected three samples, one each of paneer, palm oil, and industrial-grade acetic acid glacial (99.85%), as evidence from the firm’s in-charge, Jignesh Budhabhai Barot. Additionally, 1,500 kg of adulterated paneer was seized on-site to prevent it from reaching consumers.
The raid prevented adulterated paneer from entering the market. These food items were found to be unhealthy prima facie, and further legal action will be taken based on the analytical report, as stated in a press release from the Office of the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Regulatory Authority.
