Five new rail coach restaurants will soon be set up across Gujarat. Western Railway’s Ahmedabad Division will start these rail coach restaurants at Sabarmati, Ambli Road, Mehsana, Bhuj, and Gandhidham stations. These wheel-mounted restaurants will be created from old, unused train coaches and will offer both indoor and outdoor seating.
According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Annu Tyagi, these restaurants will give the visitors a premium dining experience in air-conditioned settings. These coaches will feature modern interiors, dedicated kitchens, and a multi-cuisine menu catering to various tastes. The rail coach restaurants will also have children’s play areas and promote an eco-friendly environment. The restaurants will also provide takeout service while serving both train and nearby local residents and will operate 24 by 7.
Bids have been invited for the contract, with the project’s overall value expected to make a substantial contribution to Indian Railways’ non-fare revenue (NFR). Meanwhile, the division is also planning more such restaurants and exploring new locations for expansion.
