Minibus hits broken down AMTS bus, crushes two mechanics fixing cable to tow the vehicle
Six people died in separate vehicle accidents in the city and surrounding rural areas within the last 48 hours. Two AMTS Maintenance Department personnel were crushed to death while hauling a broken-down bus on Cadila Bridge in the city.
As they were repairing the cable between the two buses, a minibus drove into one of them from behind, killing Hridayanand Yaday and Ronak Shrimali who were trapped between the two vehicles.
In another accident, Prakashbhai Makwana, 41, a resident of Vastral, who was on his way to work from Hathijan Circle towards Ring Road. Near Tapasvi Icon, was struck by an unknown vehicle on January 26. He was declared dead on being rushed to a hospital. Vivekanandanagar Police have begun an investigation in the matter.
A third fatality was recorded when a 65-year-old woman crossing the road near Anupam Cinema to New Cotton Mill Road was hit by a speeding pickup truck and died on the spot. Additionally, a 65-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road near Singarwa. Another young man also lost his life when a speedirig vehicle hit him near Shela on the SP Ring Road.
