Construction Work and Holiday Rush Cause Delays on Key Routes Commuters experienced increased travel times due to congestion caused by ongoing construction and the holiday rush.
Ahmedabad Faces Heavy Traffic Ahead of Uttarayan on Sunday, a day before Uttarayan, Ahmedabad witnessed severe traffic congestion, leaving many commuters stuck in long delays as they struggled to reach their destinations during the festive rush.
The situation near Damru Circle was particularly bad. A local commuter shared, “The traffic conditions near Damru Circle Road were intolerable this evening. This has been a consistent issue for the past few days, making it difficult for daily commuters like me to reach their destinations on time.”
Commuters were also frustrated by ongoing construction work near SG Highway, opposite YMCA Club. One person mentioned, “The prolonged flyover construction near SG Highway opposite YMCA club has been disrupting commutes since its inception. I see the traffic situation worsening in the evenings and does not improve even late at night.” Traffic was also heavy near Khyati Circle, with many stuck for long periods. “The traffic condi- tions this afternoon near Khyati Circle were unbearable. I was stuck in the jam for a very long time, and cab fares were hiked due to the issue. Traveling today was a very unpleasant experience, said one commuter.
The traffic was similarly bad in Maninagar, “I suffered traffic jams numerous times while going to my destination starting from Maninagar. Majority of signals on the road was jam-packed. On the other side, Chanakyapuri bridge near Gota in the evening was just unbearable,” said a resident. Vendors setting up along the road added to the congestion, making it even harder for vehicles to pass.
Other parts of the city also saw intense traffic, including areas near ISKCON and Vivekanandnagar. “There was too much traffic near ISKCON to Vivekanandnagar,” said one frustrated driver.
In the evening, traffic came to a standstill near Balol nagar. “There was a traffic jam near Balol nagar around 6.45 pm when I was on my way to the RTO in an auto. I was stuck for around 10-15 minutes,” said Anjali Patel, a commuter.
