Another case of Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV) was reported in Gujarat, this time in Prantij. According to reports, an eight-year-old boy tested positive on Wednesday, marking the second case of HMPV in Gujarat.
This takes the national tally of HMPV positive cases to nine cases in the country.
Earlier, an infant from Rajasthan who was brought to Ahmedabad had tested positive. The two-month-old was under treatment at Ahmedabad’s Orange Hospital, but now has been declared fully recovered.
The child who was brought to Ahmedabad for treatment from Dungarpur, Rajasthan, was kept on a ventilator for five days.
According to doctors, the child was discharged on Tuesday after recovering completely after 10 days of treatment.
Meanwhile, regarding HMPV, a meeting was held in the health department on Tuesday as well.
Senior officials of the health department were present at the meeting organised by the state government. In which, strict implementation of guidelines related to HMPV was discussed.
A 15-bed isolation ward has been prepared at Asarwa Civil Hospital. Dr Deepika Singhal, Superintendent of Sola Civil Hospital, said “We have not prepared an isolation ward yet as there is no cause for concern. But a ward is vacant and an isolation ward will be started in it if needed. The process of purchasing testing kits for this virus has been started.”
In Gujarat, arrangements will be made for the diagnosis of HMPV virus cases from the district hospital to the hospital affiliated with the medical college and civil hospital in the state.
