This diversion is part of a ₹2,200 crore state-approved project to transform the76-km SP Ring Road into a six-lane highway, aimed at easing congestion and enhancing connectivity. The upgrade includes rebuilding aging bridges over the Sabarmati River at Bhat and Komod, constructing flyovers, and adding underpasses at key intersections like Aslali and Chiloda.
The project, supported by loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has already seen progress at sites like the Ognej underpass and Sindhu Bhavan junction flyover. Upon completion, the SP Ring Road will feature 34 flyovers and underpasses, up from the current 16, significantly improving traffic flow and safety.
These upgrades promise smoother commutes, reduced travel times, and a more efficient transport network, marking a transformative milestone in Ahmedabad’s infrastructure development.
