Gandhinagar SOG bust ganja network, arrest two from Dehgam

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Gandhinagar police arrested two individuals and seized 896 grams of marijuana during a raid at a shop in the Dehgam area on Saturday.

Acting on a specific tip-off, the SOG team conducted a raid at Ashok Watch Company, located in the Sardar Shopping Center, Dehgam. The suspects, identified as Ajitkumar Chauhan (47) and Ranjitkumar Chauhan (42), both residents of the Lavar Chakla area in Dehgam, were allegedly involved in the illicit trade of ganja.

The operation revealed that the banned substance was meticulously concealed in a wooden compartment at the back of the shop. A field test confirmed the seized material was marijuana.

In addition to the marijuana, the officers confiscated other items valued at ₹35,750, including mobile phones, cash, and miscellaneous goods.

A case has been registered at the Dehgam police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify any potential links to a larger drug network.

A senior police officials stated, “We received specific information about a watch shop located in Dehgam that was allegedly selling illegal substances. Acting on this information, we set up a trap and caught the accused red-handed. During the investigation, we discovered that the accused had created a secret compartment in the shop, which was used to hide the substances.”
