Adarsh school took board exam fee from girls; Rajasthan Hindi school charged extra for ACs
Ahmedabad city District education Officer (DEO) Rohit Chaudhari has issued notices to two schools-Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya and Rajasthan Hindi High School-over allegations of charging extra fees.
A notice was issued to Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya after a Class 10 female student complained to the DEO through the ‘Sarthi Helpline’ that the school charged Rs 800 as board examination fee. However, the board does not charge this fee from female students or those with disabilities.
Following the complaint, the DEO instructed the school to refund the collected fees to the affected students. Rajasthan Hindi High School got the DEO notice for imposing a fee of Rs 1,000 per student for air-conditioning facility in classrooms. After receiving a complaint, the DEO issued a notice directing the school to return the fee to all students who had paid for the facility.
Chaudhari has further instructed both schools to provide a record confirming the refund of the fees to the DEO’s office.
