The redevelopment of Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad is expected to be completed by 2027, said the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ahmedabad.
DRM Said “The revolutionary transformation that we are witnessing in the country is reflected in the development of Ahmedabad station, which is being developed into an iconic station. The target for completing this project is 2027. The progress made so far, whether it’s the elevated road, multi-modal transport hub, or parcel office, is on schedule and within budget. The entire design, including its aesthetics, is inspired by the Modhera Sun Temple structures, while preserving the brick minaret. A pedestrian plaza is being developed around it for the convenience of the public, and arrival and departure areas are being built separately.”
The renovation project, estimated at Rs 2,383 crore, has marked the completion of 100 days of construction. Sudhir Kumar Sharma, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), stated that Phase 1 of the project includes the construction of pillars for a two-storey basement parking facility, located about 50 feet below ground, with space for around 3,300 vehicles.
Additionally, work has begun on a six-lane elevated road, 10 meters above ground, which will connect the Kalupur and Sarangpur bridges.
