The annual carnival, from December 25 to 31, will add drone show and underwater dance this
The much-awaited Kankaria Carnival will have new attractions for visitors this year. While the popular laser show will continue to entertain, the carnival will introduce a drone show for the first time. Other high- lights include an underwater dance performance and a human pyro show.
The inauguration will feature an attempt to break a Guinness World Record as 1,000 children will simultaneously unwrap and eat chocolates. Organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the carnival will be open to all with free entry at Kankaria Lake and run until December 31.
The seven-day event will have colourful cultural programmes and entertainment for all age groups. A theme-based parade on “Developed Gujarat, Developed India,” light and sound shows, laser and drone shows, and performances by well- known artistes like Geeta Rabari, Kinjal Dave, Rag Mehta, Ishani Dave, and Kairavi Buch are part of the lineup. Stand-up comedy by artistes like Manan Desai, Chirayu Mistry, and Amit Khua, along with rock band performances by Meghdhanush and Starfiire, will also entertain visitors.
Cultural programmes will include folk dances, Bollywood fusion, patriotic songs and live music performances. Special events like martial arts displays, pet fashion shows, life-size puppet shows and children’magic shows will add to the excitement. Competitions in stand-up comedy, singing, instrumental music, and dance will also be organised. Students from municipal schools and anganwadis will be part of the festivities.
