After fake offices and officers in Gujarat, a fake school has come to light, allegedly receiving grants and teachers’ salaries for 10 years despite being non-operational.
The school in question, JJ Kalriya School located in the Chhadvavadar village in Dhoraji, was receiving government money without having any students attending it.
After the whole ordeal came to light, the Rajkot District Education Officer (DEO) went to visit the school, only to find the teachers and principal of the school missing.
The villagers, who played a pivotal role in bringing the possible scam to the fore, informed that the school had been closed down for the last 10 years. The students, enrolled in Classes 9 and 10 in the year, have not attended the school once.
The school has been receiving grant money, salaries for the staff, and scholarships for the students since it went non-operational. However, it has regularly enrolled students for Classes 9 and 10 during this time. Currently, there are 50 students enrolled with the school.
The Rajkot DEO arrived at the school after the uproar, and a report on the alleged scam is being prepared. The DEO officer in charge, Dixit Patel, said that when his team, along with the local administration visited the school, they did not find a single student. The teachers, principal, and the trustees seem to have disappeared.
