The 9-day event, which will conclude on December 8, will be organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), India, under the Union Ministry of Education, along with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The first edition of the Ahmedabad International Book Festival will kick off on Saturday at Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre.

“Continuing the legacy of Vanche Gujarat, the world’s largest reading campaign, and building upon the success of the World Book Fair 2024 held in New Delhi, the AMC has organised a grand book fair. This event, alongside celebrations of knowledge, science, arts, and culture, aims to connect the youth and elders of our nation with the love of books,” said Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibhaben Jain on Thursday.
“With the unwavering support of the people of Ahmedabad and our collaboration with the AMC, NBT is proud to elevate the book fair to a truly international scale, offering a unique blend of attractions under one roof,” said Amit Kumar Singh, Public Relations Head, NBT-India. With more than 100 literary sessions across six stages — Pragya Shivir (Children’s Pavilion), Shabd Samsara (Authors’ Corner), Gyaan Ganga (Literary Stage for Creative Workshops), Culinary Literature Stage (Rasoi aur Kitaab), Rangmanch (Cultural Stage), and Abhiklap (Design+), along with a along with a Children’s Film Festival — the event promises an engaging experience for all.
Celebrated Speakers
This year’s fair will host speakers and authors from Spain, Sri Lanka, Poland, Denmark, Scotland, Singapore, and the UAE, along with celebrated Gujarati authors.
These will include Padma Shri recipients such as Raghuveer Chaudhary, Kumar Pal Desai, Jagdish Trivedi and Shahbuddin Rathod along with noted authors like Monika Halan, Ram Mori, E V Ramakrishnan, Saurabh Bajaj, William Dalrymple, Guillermo Rodríguez Martín, Monica Kowaleczko-Szumowska, and Mette Johansson
