The Gujarat Independent Preschool Association has declared the closure of all preschools across the state on Tuesday, December 3, as part of a silent protest against the government’s failure to address concerns related to new registration directives for preschools. There are approximately 5,000 preschools in Ahmedabad alone.
As part of the protest, the association members and preschool owners will gather at the Ramkatha Ground in Gandhinagar on December 3 for a demonstration.
As per the education department’s directive, all preschools in the state have to get themselves registered with the state government by February 2025. Those who fail to comply will not be allowed to operate beyond the deadline. However, there has been a lot of confusion regarding the directives, which has led to delay in the registration process.
Despite repeated requests for amendments to these guidelines, the government has not taken any action.
