The number of female taxpayers in Gujarat has increased by 8% in one year, reaching 22.50 lakh from 20.84 lakh in 2022-23.
In the financial year 2023-24, Gujarat ranks second in the country in terms of the highest number of women taxpayers. As of September 30, 2024, Maharashtra tops the list with 36.83 lakh female taxpayers.
Uttar Pradesh stands in third place with 20.43 lakh, and Tamil Nadu in fourth place with 15.51 lakh. In 2023-24, there are a total of 2.29 crore female taxpayers across the country.
Nationally, the number of women taxpayers stood at 1.83 crore in 2019-20, 1.82 crore in 2020-21, 1.94 crore in 2021-22, and 2.10 crore in 2022-23.
In the COVID-19 year of 2019-20, Gujarat had 18.48 lakh female taxpayers. Over the past five years, Gujarat has seen an increase of approximately 25% in the number of female taxpayers.
