Ahmedabad’s Shastri Bridge, an important link between Narol Circle and Vishala Circle, is undergoing major repair work to fix its expansion joints and bearings. To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during this maintenance, the city’s traffic management team has announced several diversions. These changes, effective until the end of December, aim to minimize disruptions for residents and commuters.
Heavy vehicles like trucks and transport carriers are no longer allowed to use the Shastri Bridge. Instead, they must follow a detour. These vehicles are now directed to use Dr. Ambedkar Bridge and then proceed to Pirana Crossroads. This diversion ensures that the repair work can continue without affecting the flow of large vehicles.
For heavy vehicles traveling from Sarkhej towards Vishala Crossroads, Pirana Crossroads, or Narol Circle, a detailed route has been provided.
Smaller vehicles, such as two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and cars, have a different arrangement. They are permitted to use one side of the Shastri Bridge while the other side undergoes repairs. Though this may cause slight delays, it allows commuters to cross between Narol Circle and Vishala Circle without major detours.
The Ahmedabad traffic police have issued a public notification outlining these changes. Residents are advised to stay updated about the diversions and plan their routes accordingly. The changes are expected to stay in place until December 31, by which time the repair work on Shastri Bridge is scheduled to be completed.
While the repair work on Shastri Bridge is essential for its long-term safety, the traffic diversions ensure minimal disruption for commuters. By providing separate routes for heavy and light vehicles, the city’s traffic management team aims to keep traffic moving smoothly. Residents are encouraged to follow the new routes and stay informed about any updates to avoid inconvenience. With careful planning and cooperation, the temporary changes can help everyone navigate the city with ease during this period.
