a continuation of its crackdown on impersonators, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested a man posing as an IAS officer. The accused, identified as Mehul Shah, allegedly created a forged letterhead to present himself as a senior official for personal gains.
Mehul Shah, a native of Morbi, is suspected to have defrauded multiple individuals by leveraging his fake IAS persona. Initial investigations reveal that Shah offered job opportunities, duping victims of lakhs of rupees in the process.
Authorities have also discovered forged documents bearing the names of various government departments. Shah is believed to have created a fabricated letterhead declaring himself as the Chairman of the Department of Science and Research Development, which has now been confiscated by the police.
This arrest comes amid a series of similar cases in Gujarat. Recently, individuals impersonating a PMO official and a police officer were also detained for attempting to exploit their fabricated identities.
