Gujarat Medical Council, Gujarat Nursing Council to submit reports next week
In the wake of the Khyati Hospital scandal, the government is now focusing its attention on Khyati Nursing College, affiliated to the hospital. Following the investigation by Gujarat Medical Council (GMC) into Khyati Hospital, the Gujarat Nursing Council (GNC) has also conducted an inspection of Khyati College of Nursing. Both the GMC and the Gujarat Nursing Council GNC are expected to submit their reports to the government and the Home department in the coming week.
The health department has completed a detailed investigation into the Khyati Hospital issue and submitted its findings to the Vastrapur police and Ahmedabad crime branch. The primary suspects involved in the hospital scandal have reportedly gone underground. While the police continue to investigate the case, the GNC has raised concerns about the future of Khyati Nursing College.
Concerns about students
A source from the Gujarat Nursing Council explained, “Our team has inspected the Khyati College of Nursing of the Khyati Group. It is affiliated with Khyati Multispecialty Hospital. When our team visited the hospital, it was oper- ational, but there wasn’t a single patient. This raises questions about the students’ studies at the nursing college. In this situation, if Khyati College of Nursing is to continue, its affiliation with another hospital is necessary so that the students can continue their studies”
He continued, “Now that there are no patients in the hospital, which hospital will the nursing college students go to? After the Khvati scandal, the hospital owner and other officials have gone underground. Keeping in mind the future of these students, we will inform the government about this matter.”
Medical Council action
A source from the Gujarat Medical Council stated that a notice had been issued to Khyati Hospital management a week ago to respond to the allegations, but no reply has been received from the absconding management. “Moreover, Dr Vajirani is in police custody. Therefore, the council has issued a notice granting another three days. We have also sought details of the complaint and investigation conducted by the health department, along with patient details. Based on this, we will report to the government’s home department and health department to take action against Khyati Hospital and its administrators.”
