Khyati Hospital Chairman Kartik Jasu Patel, CEO Chirag Hirasingh Rajput, Director Rajshree Pradeep Kothari and Bariatric Surgeon Dr Sanjay Mulji Patolia remained out of reach of Vastrapur police, which was investigating the case, until Monday.
Five days after three FIRs were filed against five people, including four owners and a doctor at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital, following the deaths of two PMJAY beneficiaries after alleged unnecessary angioplasty surgeries, the Ahmedabad City Police is yet to arrest the four directors of the hospital.

Meanwhile, the investigation into all three FIRs – one filed on behalf of the Gujarat government and two by the families of the two deceased, all on November 13 — was transferred to the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) on Monday. Zone-1 DCP Himanshu Kumar Verma confirmed, “The investigation into the Khyati Hospital case has been transferred to the Crime Branch.”
Notably, the only accused arrested in the case so far is Dr Prashant Vazirani, the visiting cardiologist accused of performing the “unnecessary” cardiac surgeries.
He has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, among others. He was arrested on November 13, an hour after the FIRs were filed. He is presently in a 7-day police custody, which will be transferred to the Crime Branch.
Gujarat Medical Council (GMC) to conduct its own investigation into the alleged scam pertaining to medical negligence and malpractice. GMC President Dr Nitin Vora was unavailable for comment.
Picked up from their village a day after a health check-up camp in Borisana village of Mehsana district, Mahesh Girdhar Barot (52) and Nagar Moti Senma (75) died following angioplasty procedures at Khyati Hospital last week.
The relatives of the deceased men said no consent was sought from them before surgery.
