Strong tremors of an earthquake were felt in many cities of Gujarat on Friday night. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale. However, no loss of life or property has been reported so far. Due to the earthquake, people left their homes in Mehsana and surrounding areas.
According to the National Center for Seismology, earthquake tremors were felt in Mehsana, Gujarat at 10:15 pm. The epicenter of the earthquake was about 10 km below the ground.
Along with Mehsana, people felt the intensity of the earthquake in many districts, including Patan, Banaskantha, Palanpur, and Sabarkantha. Tremors were also felt in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Local people have reported about the earthquake in Wadaaj, Ankur, New Wadaaj, and surrounding areas of Ahmedabad.
Officials at the state control room in Gandhinagar said that people came out of their homes after feeling the tremors but there is no report of any casualties or property damage.
Apart from Gujarat, the earthquake’s intensity was also felt in many areas of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. People have reported feeling the earthquake in Sirohi district near the border of Rajasthan with Gujarat.
