Refutes claims made by CBSE regional officer in Indore
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has refuted recent claims made by one of its officials regarding major changes to the syllabus and examination patterns for Classes 10 and 12 board exams. The clarification came after Vikas Kumar Agrawal, the CBSE regional officer of Bhopal, made the announcement during a school principals’ summit in Indore on Thursday.
Agrawal stated that the CBSE would implement a reduction of up to 15% in the syllabus for the 2025 board exams. The modifications also include an increased weightage for internal assessment. He also mentioned plans to revise the examination pattern to emphasise practical knowledge and skill-based education, with 50% of the question paper focused on applied scenarios and real-world applications. He also noted the possibility of introducing an open-book examination format for certain subjects, such as English Literature and Social Science.
However, by Thursday evening, the CBSE issued a formal circular denying the changes for the board examination.
