Expanded air connectivity and new routes.
Airport officials attribute the record in passenger traffic to expanded air connectivity, including new domestic and international routes introduced with the winter schedule rollout in late October. This update brought additional flights and increased frequencies, aiming to meet the demand for travel options, particularly during the festive season.
On November 10th alone, SVPI Airport managed close to 300 aircraft movements, approaching the previous high of 328 flights during the ICC World Cup. Industry experts suggest that this surge in passenger volume was largely due to the increased availability of flights to popular destinations, making travel more feasible for both holiday and business travellers.
The higher traffic volumes, reflecting a seasonal spike, highlight how the addition of direct routes and enhanced flight schedules has supported smoother, more efficient travel through Ahmedabad. This recent uptick aligns with the airport’s role as a significant hub in western India, responding to rising leisure and business travel demand.
