Gujarat witnessed a significant rise in e-memo issuances last year. With 30.91 lakh e-memos in 2024, the state has become the fourth-highest state for issuing e-challans.
E-memos could be issued but are not limited to violations of —jumping a red light, using a mobile phone while driving, travelling without a seat belt or helmet, driving without a licence and PUC, riding three-passenger on a two-wheeler, movement of heavy vehicles during the day, parking in a no-parking zone, etc.
Over 150% increase in e-memos
Gujarat saw 12.16 lakh issuances of e-memos in 2023, 2.82 lakh in 2022, which rose to 30.91 lakh in 2024.
State-wise rankings
Uttar Pradesh ranked highest with e-memo issuance of 1.12 crore this year. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Haryana followed the lead.
