While we’re familiar with our favourite Bollywood superstars dazzling us every Funnyvaar on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, this week, Kap’s cafe is going to be visited by some Industry Icons who have redefined the world of entrepreneurship in India, business tycoons Narayana Murthy, Sudha Murthy, Deepinder Goyal and Gia Goyal.
This unique episode will deliver some heartfelt stories while marking the return of some fan-favourite gags, all delivered right on time! One such heartfelt story comes when Infosys founder Narayana Murthy recalls the one time he forgot Sudha Murthy’s and his anniversary, only to get a strong reminder from his daughter.
Narayana Murthy shared this anecdote with Kapil, “One day, I woke up in the morning and Sudha said to me, is anything special today? And I said no…nothing? So I decided to go to the office and as I was getting in the car, she asked me, think of anything special today? And I went no? It’s the same day. Then that evening, I was to come to Bombay and I was in the car when I got a call from my daughter. She was in the US at that time, studying at Stanford. She asks me, what are you doing?? I told her I was going to catch a flight to Mumbai. She said, “cancel the flight right now, and take the first flight out tomorrow morning at 6 and come back to Bangalore and wish my mother, and your wife, a happy anniversary day.”
Sudha Murthy adds, “It was our 25th wedding anniversary so it doesn’t happen every year. So I thought, let me give him a cue but it did not work…For five-ten minutes I felt bad because I’m also human. But my daughter was very upset, she went ‘In America this never happens!’, but I went ‘India main it happens though’, who can remember these things?”
We’re sure, Mr. Narayan will never forget their anniversary date going forward!
