Scheduled to launch in December 2024, the new unified Super App will let travellers access various train services on a single platform
Ahead of the New Year, Indian Railways has taken another significant step towards digital transformation by launching its own super app. This innovative app aims to enhance travel experience for passengers who use the railway system, offering a wide range of services under one umbrella.
This ‘Super App’ is scheduled to launch in December 2024, offering a unified platform for all railway-related services. This mobile application will streamline the booking process, allowing users to effortlessly reserve tickets and purchase platform passes. Additionally, passengers can stay informed with real-time train tracking and PNR status updates. And the app will enable convenient food ordering, eliminating the need to rely on traditional catering services.
Currently, travellers must navigate multiple websites for various services, including IRCTC eCatering Food on Track for meal delivery, IRCTC Rail Connect for ticket transactions, UTS for unreserved tickets, Rail Madad for feedback, and the National Train Enquiry System for tracking trains. The new app will consolidate these services into a single, user-friendly platform, saving time and effort for millions of passengers.
According to reports, IRCTC, the primary booking platform for Indian Railways, has already garnered significant success with its Rail Connect app, surpassing 100 million downloads. This app plays a pivotal role in online ticket bookings, with third-party travel agencies relying on its services. In the fiscal year 2023-24, IRCTC reported a net profit of Rs 1,111.26 crore and total revenue of Rs 4,270.18 crore, with ticket sales contributing 30.33% to the total revenue.
