Instagram is currently facing a major outage, impacting thousands of users globally who are unable to send or access direct messages (DMs). As per the media report, the problem started around 5:14 PM IST on October 29, 2024, and has continued, prompting numerous complaints from users. In India, the number of outages were close to 1,600, according to Downdetector.
In countries like the UK, many users have reported being unable to send DMs. According to Downdetector, there were over 2,000 outage reports in the UK, while the number approached 1,000 in the US.
According to reports, users are encountering problems such as messages not being delivered, showing “failed to deliver” notifications. Some users also complained about the app crashing when attempting to log in.
A few users have taken to rival social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), to express their frustration and check if others are experiencing similar issues.
Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has yet to make any comment regarding the outage
