On October 25, 2024, Rachel Gupta of Punjab, became the first Indian to win the historic and extremely coveted Miss Grand International (MGI) title. The outgoing Miss Grand International 2023, Luciana Fuster of Peru, crowned Rachel at MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. Alongside Rachel, the event crowned four runners-up: The Philippines’ Christine Juliane Opiaza (1st runner up), Myanmar’s Thae Su Nyein (2nd runnerup), France’s Safiétou Kabengele (3rd runner up) and Brazil’s Talita Hartmann (4th runner up).
Rachel Gupta, a 5’10” model, actress, and entrepreneur, is from Jalandhar, Punjab. She was fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi and always considered a worthy shot at the international title for her box office appeal, with her striking Asian features that included her chiseled face and siren eyes. It was her performance in all segment in the competition that sealed her victory and made her the much coveted crown Miss Grand International 2024.
