About 3.75 lakh passengers will benefit from extra trips of 8,340 buses during the upcoming Diwali festivities, the Gujarat State Transport Corporation announced.
The Gujarat State Transport Corporation operates more than 8,000 buses daily, covering 33 lakh kilometers, and provides bus transport services to over 25 lakh passengers. This year, special extra trips of 8,340 buses have been planned for the Diwali celebration, enabling working citizens to celebrate the festival with their families in their hometowns.
This year GSRTC will run 2,200 buses from Surat, 2,900 from South-Central Gujarat, 2,150 from Saurashtra-Kutch, and 1,090 from North Gujarat, totaling 8,340 extra trips. Through this initiative, around 3.75 lakh passengers will benefit. This initiative by GSRTC to ply extra buses has received an nice response, with an 18% increase in daily advance bookings compared to last month.
Passengers will be able to avail advance and current booking services through the Corporation’s depot at the Divisional Office as well as on the Corporation’s website, www.gsrtc.in. Passengers traveling with ST can call the Corporation’s toll-free number, 1800-233-666666, for operational queries, available 24 hours a day.
It is worth mentioning that jewelers from the Saurashtra region, particularly from the Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, and Rajkot districts, settle in Surat for job and business purposes and travel to their hometowns during the Diwali festival. Special extra buses have been organized from Surat for the large number of Saurashtra citizens and other residents of the state. The Surat Division of the Corporation has arranged an additional 2,200 buses from Surat for passengers traveling to Saurashtra, Panchmahal, North Gujarat, and Maharashtra from October 26 to October 30, 2024.
