Round 2 of seat allotment in 9 courses ends; Oct 24 deadline to pay fee.
The second round of seat allotments for paramedical, nursing and physiotherapy courses has resulted in 16,453 vacant seats out of a total of 31,925. Only 15,472 students have secured admissions so far. This means roughly half the available seats remain unfilled.
The admission process, which covers nine medical courses such as Nursing, ANM, GNM, Physiotherapy, Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, saw 16,290 students participate in the second round. Of these, 15,492 students were allotted colleges. The deadline to pay fees and confirm admissions is October 24.
Concerns are rising about filling these vacancies, especially with over 200 new colleges still pending. Fresh applications were invited for PG dental course
approval. Issues such as fire safety, BU permission, and accreditation problems have delayed the sanctioning of these institutions. Sources from the admissions committee indicate that the final admission deadline is October 31, raising doubts about filling the vacant seats even if new colleges get approval.
Currently, all government college seats are filled, leaving vacanciesonly in self-financed institutions. Ayurveda and Homeopathy courses are experiencing similar trends. After two rounds of admissions for 7,700 seats, 1,352 remain vacant. Students have until October 22 to complete their choice-filling for these remaining seats, with allotments to be announced on October 23.
In the second round, 598 Ayurveda and Homeopathy seats went unreported, and 49 seats were cancelled (18 in Ayurveda and 31 in Homeopathy). This, coupled with an increase of 50 seats in Ayurveda and 666 in Homeopathy, brings the total number of vacant seats to 1,352.
PG Dental
Following a reduction in eligibility criteria, fresh applications were invited for PG Dental admissions. Out of 42 available seats, 23 have been allotted, leaving 19 vacant. Students must confirm their admission by 4 pm on October 23.
