An elderly man was killed in Ahmedabad in a tragic hit-and-run incident. The 74-year-old, identified as Amarchand Rajput, was struck by a speeding car while on his morning walk.
The incident, captured on CCTV, took place in the city’s Amraiwadi area before 5 am. Rajput, a local resident was walking towards Saujanya Apartment when a speeding car hit him. The driver fled the scene immediately, leaving Rajput dead at the spot.
Police have registered a case and are currently analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the vehicle and the driver. An investigation is underway to apprehend the culprit.
Earlier on Monday, three people travelling in a car were killed when their vehicle collided head on with a truck in Kallur village in Karnataka’s Raichur district. The deceased were residents of Konapur in Raichur’s Manvi town. After the accident, the truck driver fled the spot, leaving behind his vehicle, police said.
Meanwhile, at least four persons were killed and two others injured in three separate road accidents in Odisha on Monday.
According to police, two persons riding a motorcycle were killed when a bus travelling to Bhubaneswar from Balasore hit their two-wheeler near Chhatia on NH-16 in Jajpur district and dragged it for some distance on Monday.
Two persons were injured in the Chandbali area of Bhadrak district when a speedy SUV two vehicles and a cycle. The SUV first hit an autorickshaw, then a parked scooter and cycle. The auto driver and cyclist were injured in the mishap, the police said.
In the third accident, two friends travelling on a bike were killed after being hit by another motorcycle on Sunday night in Binika police station area in Sonepur district. The Binika police have registered a case and started an investigation into the case.
