Two Irani Gang members arrested in Ahmedabad who have been named as an accused in 47 cases, across three states.
The accused have been identified as Mustufa Shabbirali Jafri (41) and Shakhi Akbarali Jafri (48), both residents of Maharashtra, said officers from Viramgam town police station.
On October 3, during a routine vehicle checking drive in Ahmedabad (rural), police received information that “two suspicious men had been spotted riding a Bajaj Pulsar without registration plates”. Based on the tip-off, police detained the two accused.
While interrogating the accused, police recovered an Aadhaar card. When the officials ran the card through the e-Gujcop application, they found that the “two men were members of the dreaded ‘Irani Gang’,” said a police statement.
The two accused have been involved in 20 cases in Gujarat, 26 in Maharashtra and one in Uttar Pradesh, said police. “Both accused have been placed under arrest and booked under Section 111 of the BNS that deals with organised crime,” said the police.
